The Israeli-Palestinian conflict represents one of the most complex and emotionally charged issues of our time, yet many Americans understand little about its historical roots or contemporary realities. In this unit study, students will explore:
The role of the Holocaust and displaced European Jews in accelerating immigration to Palestine
How Palestinian Arabs experienced displacement, dispossession, and the destruction of their communities during the 1948 Nakba
The religious and political dimensions of Christian and Jewish Zionism, and their role in the conflict
This unit study will challenge students to move beyond simplistic explanations and engage deeply with one of the world’s most enduring conflicts.
